THE MICHELIN MAN TURNS GREEN FOR GATS 2009

Michelin booth display, information and products help truckers ‘go green’

DALLAS (Aug. 20, 2009) –The Michelin Man is flexing his green tire muscle this week at the 2009 Great American Trucking Show (GATS). Show attendees will be able to see 10 Michelin tires on the EPA SmartWay verified technologies list at the company's GATS booth #13081. In addition, show attendees can receive information on upcoming diesel emission regulations, like those from the California Air Resources Board (CARB), that will affect the way they do business and what tires they use.

Michelin booth representatives will be armed with information on the upcoming regulations and how Michelin tires on the SmartWay verified technologies list can help them meet the regulations and save money on their fuel budget.

"For some time, Michelin has helped customers save money on fuel with green tire technology," said Marc Laferriere, vice president of marketing, Michelin Americas Truck Tires. "Now that same technology will be instrumental in helping these companies meet upcoming regulations. We encourage those attending GATS to come by the booth and get information on how Michelin can help make this a green-green situation for them."

Also starting this week, Michelin tires on the SmartWay verified technologies list will be featured on a new green information section on the Michelin truck tire web site. The new section on the Michelin web site will feature information on all 10 Michelin SmartWay verified tires. It will also have links to other important information and green sections on other web sites, including numerous industry publications, SmartWay, American Trucking Associations (ATA), CARB and more.

Of the 29 tires from six manufacturers on the SmartWay verified technologies list, Michelin tires account for more than 30 percent of the list with 10 tires-more than any other tire manufacturer. The Michelin tires on the SmartWay verified technologies list are:
