WHY CHOOSE MICHELIN® TRUCK TIRES?
A HISTORY OF QUALITY AND INNOVATION
Michelin is known around the world for high-quality tires and technological innovation. In well over 100 years of innovation, Michelin continues to help define the tire industry. Dedicated to the improvement of sustainable mobility, Michelin designs, manufactures and sells tires for every type of vehicle, including airplanes, automobiles, bicycles, earthmovers, farm equipment, heavy-duty trucks and motorcycles. The company also publishes travel guides, hotel and restaurant guides, maps and road atlases.
Michelin North America employs more than 22,000 and operates 18 major manufacturing plants in 16 locations in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. The majority of the MICHELIN® truck tires sold in North America are manufactured in our plants at Spartanburg, SC, or Waterville, Canada.
OUR COMMITMENT TO QUALITY AND A BETTER TOTAL COST OF OWNERSHIP
Before, during and after the manufacturing process, MICHELIN® tires are tested to ensure quality control. New methods of testing are always being developed to keep producing a better product.
Engineers in physics, chemistry, electronics and other fields use a wide range of materials and techniques. Electron microscopy, x-rays, holography, transmission and absorption spectography, high-speed photography and various other investigative techniques are used to study the tire and the tire-and-wheel-assembly interaction with the rest of the vehicle.
Quality control goes beyond the laboratory to the production line itself. At each stage of the manufacturing process, from raw materials to the finished product, production standards and requirements are constantly verified. Today all plants incorporate Michelin's latest technological developments and highly automated production processes.
TESTING, R&D AND THE LAURENS PROVING GROUND
Testing also plays an important role in assuring the Michelin quality. That's why Michelin operates the Laurens Proving Ground in South Carolina. Opened in 1976, the facility today includes a wide range of testing capabilities for all categories of tires. In addition, MICHELIN® tires are fitted every day on various vehicles and machines and tested repeatedly on tracks, roads, highways and job sites around the world. Michelin's R&D center in North America has been responsible for developing some of the finest tires in the world to market, including the first new generation wide-base single tire, the MICHELIN® X One®.
When a MICHELIN® tire is on the road, it delivers a collection of benefits rather than one particular attribute. Our engineers are not satisfied with any sort of trade-offs to bring you uncompromising performances that deliver a better total cost of ownership.
